PE and Sports Premium

RODING PRIMARY SCHOOL

Sports Premium Report

Academic year 2021-2022

Written by Rob Ashbrook (PE lead)

 (July 2022)

What is School Sport Premium funding?

Background:

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and sport. This funding has been approved until July 2023 and is to be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision. The funding is for the academic year running September to July each year. This funding is ring fenced to be used for sport specific areas to make an impact in Physical Education and Sport in schools. Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and Sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

Roding Primary School information for 2021-2022:

Primary schools receive specific government funding called the 'PE and Sport Premium' from the Department for Education. The funding aims to help improve the quality of PE teaching and sports opportunities in primary schools, to improve the health and well-being of children through engagement in a high quality PE sports and fitness curriculum.

Our school receives an annual premium of approximately £19,000 (this includes a set payment, plus an additional £10 per pupil) which is used to directly impact on improving PE and sport provision throughout the school in relation to the following five key indicators.

Roding Primary School Primary will see an improvement in PE and sport provision against the following 5 key indicators:

1.      The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles.

2.      The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.

3.      Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.

4.      Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.

5.      Increased participation in competitive sport

Roding Primary School’s vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium is:

All pupils leaving primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

As a school we are accountable for how we use this additional funding. Schools are required to publish online information regarding how they have used the premium and the impact it has made. We are very proud of our PE and sports provision at Roding Primary. Please see Sports Premium 2021-22 document below to find out how we have spent the sports premium on this year.
